Hive Media attended the Game Developers Conference 2010 (GDC) and a great time was had. While wading through the nearly 20,000 GDC attendees, Hive Media was able to meet with a few of our existing clients and new clients which wish to use Hive Media’s amazing media services.
One of our partners, xaitment had a most excellent booth displaying their technologies. Xaitment is known for having the leading Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions in the video game industry. xaitment is one of Hive Media’s partners on the charity driven public game development project, The Zombie Game Experiment.
To further describe their solutions, xaitment’s website states, “xaitment engineers AI game tools that go far beyond pathfinding. Using xaitment’s modular and intuitive tools, game designers and programmers can easily give NPCs the brainpower to challenge even the most seasoned gamer.”.
Another exciting display was the Trinigy booth, were they were displaying their new, intense gaming engine, Trinigy 8. Hive Media may be becoming more familiar with this powerful game development package in the future. We will have more on that another that another time.
Trinigy’s website states, “Trinigy develops and sells the Vision Game Engine. Now in its eighth version, the mature game engine is carefully engineered to empower game developers with unrestrictive workflows, numerous middleware integrations, and the technical and creative freedom to transform imaginative ideas into immersive gameplay.
Used on 125+ projects, Trinigy’s game engine is the trusted solution of PC, console, serious, and casual game developers across the globe…”.
While we were very busy with our various meetings, we still had time to crawl the other booths at GDC and took a handful of pictures in the process!
Here we visited the Autodesk booth, developers of 3dModeling tool Maya, 3DsMAX and other packages.
Fmod also attending GDC, this is an audio solution for game development.
Intel was attending as well. They were also giving out their high end CPUs to lucky winners!
Nintendo was their displaying their games and hardware platforms. Their staff were most helpful, helping Hive Media consider future options for our partners.

Unity had a large booth, educating developers and displaying their package.
Crytek had a great booth, displaying their game engine and amazing statue of one of their game models.
Steve Wiebe, world champion of Donkey Kong, was displaying his skills.
Steve even took time to play our awesome game, Angela’s World and stated that it was a lot of fun to play. Thanks Steve!
One of the more interesting booths at GDC 2010 was the Zombrex booth. They were role-playing a medical team. They would sit you down in a chair and do a small examination to see if you were infected with the zombie virus. They would then give you a for-fun anti-zombie vaccine “injection”.
We also took a bit of time to relax at the International Game Developers Association (IGDA) party.
The entire conference was exhausting, thrilling, educational, profitable and very fun. Hive Media will be sure to return to one of the best game conferences on the globe, next year!
